I’ve been upgrading my rig since March. Here are the differences

My rig since March 2010:

Added or replaced items:
Replaced PSU to Silverstone st50-230 PSU
Replaced Heatsink with Coolermaster V8
Replaced Chassis with Coolermaster CM690 (made a few mods)
Added Silverstone FM123 and FM121 fans
Added 2 UV Green Sunbeam 120mm fans
Added 1 Blue and 1 Green Coolermaster R4 fans (120mm, 90cfm)
Added 1 80x15mm fan
Added 1 Silverstone FF121 (fan grill with filter)
Added 5.25″ fan bracket
Added digital thermometer (green LCD)
Added Deepcool Rockman fan controller

Added Edifier M1550 5.1ch speaker

The CM690 chassis can accommodate upto 7 fans. 2 on top, 1 at the back, 1 in the bottom, 1 front of hdd, 1 front in the 5.25 bay (using a fan bracket), 1 behind the CPU (80x15mm).

I can safely say I have a low-end rig but it runs all the games i’m currently playing with good fps @ 1080 resolution. I will be taking a class on 3D Studio Max 2010 this August, so I’m all set for that.

When I get a chance, I’ll be upgrading my rig but as for now, I have other priorities.

 

My New Rig

I bought a new desktop computer this month. It’s about time I upgraded my old Pentium 4 desktop.

This was my old desktop specs:

I’m not much into high end rigs. I prefer mid-end affordable rigs that can run current pc games and play crisp hd movies.

In my old pc, I play video games at 1024×768 and settings set to low. Now I play at 1920×1080 and settings set to high with anti-aliasing. Thanks to my new hd4770 video card and an amd 3 core processor.

Playing HD movies are great. The picture is very clear and crisp compared to my old rig.

I’m planning to buy a Thermaltake v3 black chassis because my stock chassis is very tight and compact. It has only one exhaust vent and one intake fan, both for 80mm fan. Thermaltake’s has 2 exhaust vents and 2 intake vents, exhaust: 1 rear, 1 top intake: 1 front, 1 bottom. All vents are for 120mm fans. Check out Thermaltake website

I’m going to purchase a UPS w/ AVR just to be safe from power failures and surges.

Hopefully I could purchase these two items by this summer. Maybe by then I can accessorize the chassis.
